The day X471 BJB nearly knocked me off

Commuting to work through Bradford on Thursday 29th September X417 BJB came within inches of knocking me off, 7.30am approximately. I had just come out of Bowling Park and was on the roundabout. He was coming down the hill. He didn't even see me as he was looking down the road and was intent on going the wrong way (i.e. right) around the mini roundabout, trying to save valuable seconds. I braced myself for a roll over his bonnet. To my amazement he managed to stop. My handbars and frame must have scraped his bonnet, meanwhile I received minor abrasions on my left leg where his bumper had come to rest. Literally another foot further and I would have been flipped on to his bonnet. What did he do? He sped off. The funniest thing about the incident was he must have seen me reading his number plate..... so he wiggled the car to try and avoid detection. At this point I had no idea whether my bike had been damaged. Needless to say he was a young, male driver who seemed to think he could use the highway as a race track and impress his female passenger. Whilst the Government is doing all it can to get people fit, it is doing nothing to educate drivers in SMIDSY. I take this route because it is the safest across Bradford. I reported the incident to a friendly policeman who was cycling up from Nelson Street. He told me he had nearly been knocked off too!
